USTED COMMANDS: All

Rules:

USTED commands, also called formal commands, are conjugated using the present subjunctive in the usted form, regardless of whether it's a positive or negative command. The irregulars (6) are the same as in the present subjunctive form.

Verb POSITIVE COMMAND NEGATIVE COMMAND
beber beba no beba
jugar juegue no juegue
almorzar almuerce no almuerce

Commands with reflexive verbs

If the verb is reflexive, you have different rules for the reflexive pronoun depending on whether it's a positive or negative command.

  1. Positive commands: Place the reflexive pronoun attached at the end of the command, and accent the second-to-last syllable.
  2. Negative commands: Place the reflexive pronoun before the command.

acostarse acuéstese no se acueste
despertarse despiértese no se despierte
